The Interact Symposium is a biennial engagement conference for researchers and public engagement professionals in the physical sciences. Interact is a collaborative project and is co-organised by the Science and Technology Facilities Council, SEPnet, the Institute of Physics, the Royal Astronomical Society and the Ogden Trust.

Interact is a chance for this community to:

  • share experiences
  • gain new skills
  • learn new ways to engage with audiences
  • gain practical experience
  • see what else is out there that can help develop and deliver high-quality engagement.

The conference moves around the country and there is a different host university for each sympossia. Across the whole series longitudinal evaluation is being carried out to assess the impact of the series across physical sciences engagement, and identify areas in which more support is needed.

The next Interact will be in September 2024. More details will be shared here when they become available.

Interact 2022

Interact 2022 was held in Cardiff on the 14th September, with an evening reception on the 13th. The conference programme is available to download here, and evaluation reports will be published in due course.

For Interact 2022 we had some delegates acting as Roving Reporters who wrote up their experiences of the day to enable sharing beyond the conference. A report has been compiled from there observations which is available here.

V-Interact (2021)

Interact 2021 was delayed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and an online ‘mini-conference held in it’s stead. The conference programme can be found here.
