GRADnet Training Events for 2018/19

GRADnet is pleased to announce the list of forthcoming GRADnet Training events for the academic year 2018-19.  These events are only for SEPnet postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers.  These events are free to attend (SEPnet pays for your accommodation and course fees for residential courses) and travel expenses can be claimed from your Department.

Please note that all advertising will be done through the SEPnet website and all registrations will be through “Eventbrite” and not the VRE (Virtual Research Environment), which has been discontinued since autumn 2018.

List of training events:

12-13 September 2018: DISCnet at Old Thorns, Liphook, Hampshire (primarily for DISCnet PGRs and limited places for PGRs interested in Data Intensive Science.)

17 October 2018: Moving Forward for 2nd Years at 1 Park Crescent, International Student House, London W1:  This is highly recommended for 2nd Years but 3rd and 4th years are welcome to attend.

24 October 2018:  GRADnet Induction at 1 Park Crescent, International Students House, London W1:  This is compulsory for all September/October 2018 starters.

31 October 2018:  IOP Employer Panel Event at Hallam Conference Centre, London W1 (networking event for PGRs, Postdocs and employers)

17-18 January 2019:  The Interface between Observation and Theory in Astrophysics,  University of Hertfordshire

18-20 February 2019: GRADnet Winter School at Cumberland Lodge, Great Park, Windsor

3-5 April 2019: Student-led Research Conferences at University of Southampton (arrival 6pm on 3 April):  From Infinity to Zero:  The history of the Universe in redshift and The Future of Particle Physics in the Post-Higgs Landscape.

8-9 April 2019:  Advanced Materials, Royal Holloway, University of London

1-4 July 2019:  GRADnet Summer School at National Physical Laboratory, Teddington, Middlesex

8-11 July 2019: IX NExT (Particle Physics) PhD School, Cosener’s House, Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Hardcopies of the GRADnet brochure for 2018-19 will be available to all staff and PGRs in your departments in September.
